Urban Agroecology – COP26 People’s Summit Webinar

November 8, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

This session will illuminate the myriad of urban/peri-urban agroecological practices and systems that are taking place across the globe. This hopes to inspire and inform people on what could be achieved in their own cities and communities; from the practical, political and systemic changes needed. Each speaker will cover a distinct aspect of urban agriculture and agroecology. We have Max Ajl (A People’s Green New Deal / Tunisian Observatory for Food Sovereignty) confirmed to speak about the social, political and economic context of urban agroecology across the world; Rejina Vasudevan (Agricultural Officer for Department of Agricultural Development and Farmers Welfare, Kerala state) an agriculturalist working for the Indian state of Kerala will talk about the practical ways households and farmers are developing agroecological practices, along with how the government and other organisations are helping with this in Kerala. We will also have someone from Glasgow speak about the challenges in developing urban agroecology here and what it would
mean for the people of Glasgow to have more control over their food systems (health, ecology and well-being).
